SAVOR THE ULTIMATE SAOTO SOUP EXPERIENCE

by Kristin

A heart warming soup originally from Java in Indonesia.

While some of the Javanese people took it with them on their travels to Suriname it became a traditional dish there as well.

This recipe is the interpretation from the Kitchen Of Nine with ingredients I like the best.

What we need?

Ingredients:

  • chicken/ chicken broth

  • onions

  • garlic

  • ginger

  • laos root aka galangal

  • lemongrass

  • lemon leaves

  • sweet potato

  • egg (medium boiled)

  • chili

  • rice

  • cilantro

  • been sprouts

  • pok choy

  • soato soup mix (fried vermicelli, crunchy potato stripes)

What takes the longest is the broth from sketch. Boil the chicken with salt and pepper until the meat is easy soft. Cut all the vegetables such as onion, garlic, lemongrass, laos/galangal, lemon leaves sweet potato’s  and add to the low boiling water. Cook the rice, pok choy  and egg separate, serve everything in little bowls for everybody who joins the party so that hey can add their favorite toppings to the base of the soup later.

Quick & Easy recipe for any time of the year.
